Miriam Nwokoro, a Lagos State resident, has detailed how Dana Air withheld her N107,000 after she and her husband were unable to travel with the airline eight months ago.

Nwokoro told FIJ that Dana Air had cancelled her flight when the plane she was supposed to travel on from Lagos to Abuja developed a technical fault on April 27.

“We got to the airport quite early because the flight was to take off by 6 am. It was after we checked in that we were told that the flight had been delayed,” Nwokoro said.

“We were at the airport till 1 pm when it was eventually announced that passengers could start boarding.

“After we boarded the aircraft, we were again made to sit inside it for another one hour. Despite the heavy rain that was experienced that day, we all sat inside the plane, waiting for it to take off.

“After yet another hour, the pilot eventually addressed all passengers, saying that the plane would no longer be taking off due to technical issues.”

Nwokoro said the affected passengers were eventually advised by Dana Air officials to proceed to the airline’s stand at the airport so that a refund process could be worked out.

“After we wrote our names and gave them other relevant information, my husband and I traveled to Abuja with another airline,” said Nwokoro.

“Dana Air has refused to make a refund to us since then. I wrote them several emails and also made many phone calls to them, but they would not refund our money to us.

“It’s been nearly eight months and no refund has been made by Dana Air. I feel so cheated. This is not how to treat a customer.”

FIJ sent an email to Dana Air’s customer service desk for comments on the matter on Tuesday morning, but it had not been responded to at press time.
