Chijioke Felix, a 14-year-old boy, suffered severe pains after Chibuzo Nwachukwu, his guardian, beat him and rubbed pepper on his wounds for allegedly stealing a phone.

Nwachukwu, who lives in the Shomolu area of Lagos, was reported to have done this after beating the teenager on Sunday.

In a video posted on Twitter, bleeding felix cries in pain, barely able to stand.

A source, who asked not to be named, told FIJ Felix ran out of his guardian’s house for succor in a neighbour’s house around 9 pm.

“His whole back was torn. He couldn’t even stand. They had to stabilise him with water and ice. The man went to work and locked the boy inside the flat,” the source said.

He also said that when officers of Alade Police Station, Shomolu, got to the residence, Nwachukwu’s son denied them entry.

“His son did not cooperate and the police compelled his wife to open the door. They have taken the boy to the station,” he said.

Confirming the incident, Kasali Musa, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) at Alade Police Station, told FIJ, “The boy is with us and we have given him the medical papers to go to the hospital. We did not arrest Nwachukwu’s wife because she wasn’t the one that beat the boy. We told her to write a witness statement while we will invite the accused for questioning.”
