Palmpay has reversed N40,000 to Adetola Oduwole, a Lagos-based interior designer, whose money it claimed was not in its possession for over a month.

This development comes eight days after FIJ reported that Palmpay continued to contend that a N40,000 transfer initiated by Oduwole from their app to Microvest was successful.

Oduwole stated that he had transferred N40,000 from his Palmpay app to his Microvest account on June 30 but was not credited.

He said he called Microvest to ask why he had not received the money but the bank told him they had received no money.

According to Oduwole, Palmpay promised to send him the money after he relayed the feedback from Microvest to them but did not do so.

He said his messages to Palmpay did nothing until FIJ intervened. He received the money on Friday.

“Just days after FIJ published my story, I started getting calls from both Palmpay and Microvest, and within a week, I got my money back,” Oduwole told FIJ.

“After a month of trying to get back my lost funds between Palmpay and Microvest, I thought I had lost my money. I called, swore and shouted, but nothing worked until my friend told me about FIJ.

“I am grateful to FIJ. This means a lot, and it shows that journalism is key to justice. Thank you, FIJ, and God bless every member of the FIJ team.

“And the most annoying part is that Palmpay kept insisting it successfully sent the money all along. That’s how they’d have sat on my money. Thanks to you and FIJ.”
