Arik Air has returned N70,746 to Victoria Erogunaiye, a Lagos State resident, whose ticket fee was withheld after her flight was cancelled in May.
Erogunaiye had told FIJ she bought a ticket on May 5 for a trip from Lagos to Jos and back. The departure flight from Lagos was scheduled for May 9, while the return trip was for May 14, but the first flight was cancelled on May 8.

She said she sent an email to the airline after her flight was cancelled but did not get a response.
“I called their line too, but they did not pick. What I wanted that day was for Arik Air to put me on a flight to Abuja so that I would find my way from there,” she said.
“I had to book another flight with a different airline to Abuja, then I travelled to Jos by road from there.
“I filled a refund form on May 11, but I didn’t get a response.
“On May 14, the day of my return to Lagos, I travelled with Arik Air from Jos because I had earlier paid for a two-way ticket and it was only the departure flight that was cancelled.
“I lodged a complaint at the Jos airport. I was asked to fill another refund form via email, which I did on that day. I did not get a response until May 23.”
She said the airline promised to refund her money but she got nothing despite all her efforts.
However, Arik Air refunded her on Friday, the day after FIJ reached out to the airline.
When contacted on Thursday to know the status of the refund, Arik sent an email, stating its readiness to resolve the refund issue. And on Friday, the customer got her money.
While appreciating FIJ on Friday, Erogunaiye said, “The airline sent an email around 9:00 am today to apologise for the delayed response. Then around 11:00 am, they credited my account with N70,746. Thank you so much.”
