Evelyn, a Lagos resident, can now heave a sigh of relief after Azman Air refunded her and her fiancé’s N120,3000 withheld since January 2023.

This much-expected news came on Monday, more than six months after FIJ published a report on the airline’s refusal to refund her and her fiancé after their cancelled flight.

A thankful Evelyn told FIJ she was grateful FIJ intervened and assisted her in the retrieval of her funds. “Thank you, FIJ. I am grateful. I have you to thank,” Evelyn said.

Evelyn, who requested to only be identified by her first name in the initial report dated September 10, informed FIJ that she and her fiancé had made multiple attempts but were not successful in getting a refund from Azman Air.

The couple had booked a flight on January 26, 2023, for a February trip from Abuja to Birnin-Kebbi, but, surprisingly, Azman Air didn’t notify them of a flight cancellation until the day of departure.

Rather than complain, they booked another airline to Birnin-Kebbi for the event that took them out of Lagos. Some Azman Air team members assured the couple that since the airline had cancelled the flight, a refund would be processed within five working days. But despite their word of assurance, the refund lingered for another year.
