Yemi Meigbope, the CEO of Green Space Recycling Services Ltd., a recycling company in Ikorodu, Lagos, has made a refund of N42 million to Joshua Adegbola, a PSP operator.

This came 168 days after FIJ reported how Meigbope collected N42,080,00 from Adegbola between 2020 and 2021, to procure recycling equipment from China.

The sum is the single biggest recovery FIJ has made for anyone since it began publishing in January 2021.

“After the story was published in January, she made a pledge that she would be making repayment to me in tranches,” a delighted Adegbola told FIJ.

“She eventually started making the repayment in May of this year and completed the amount on June 30, 2023.

“I am very grateful to FIJ for your intervention on the matter. I really appreciate your effort.”

After Adegbola, a recycling enthusiast secured several loans from many quarters and made the N42.08 million payment to Meigbope in 2021, the latter had ended up not procuring all the equipment she took the sum from the PSP operator for.

An aggrieved Adegbola then conducted an independent research and this led him to the China-based firm that Meigbope was supposed to order the equipment from.

When the PSP operator requested an invoice containing the price of all the equipment from the company, it turned out that the total cost was N15 million.

This meant that Meigbope had collected almost triple the actual cost of the machines from Adegbola and still ended up not supplying all the PSP operator requested for.
