United Nigeria Airlines has made a N266,000 refund to Olawale Oladapo, a Lagos-based medical doctor.

This came 17 days after FIJ reported how the airline withheld Oladapo’s money when it rescheduled a Lagos-Abuja flight he was supposed to travel on alongside two of his colleagues in February.

“I would like to thank FIJ for the help it rendered in helping me recover my money from the airline. I am very grateful,” Oladapo said on Friday.

“Ten days after the story was published by FIJ, the sum of N80,000 was first refunded to me for the ticket I booked for myself in February.

“A few days ago, the remaining N186,000, being the cost of the tickets I booked for my colleagues, was also refunded. Thank you for all you do.”

Oladapo had bought three tickets in February with United Nigeria Airlines while planning to attend a programme in Abuja with his colleagues.

Before they could travel however, the airline rescheduled the take-off time to a period that was not convenient for them. Because of this, Oladapo and his colleagues were forced to travel with another airline in order to make the programme they needed to attend.

When he subsequently requested for a refund of the N266,000, United Nigeria Airlines refused to pay him back his money for four months.
