Total Energies Nigeria has refunded N11,500 to Oluwagbenga Ajibose, the Lagos-based entrepreneur whose account was debited after a failed transaction.

Ajibose told FIJ that the reversal was made by the energy company on April 17.

“Hello, FIJ. This is to inform you that the money has been reversed,” Ajibose wrote in an SMS message.

“I got the reversal on April 17, but I didn’t get to confirm that the credit was from Total Energy until today.

“I eventually contacted my bank today, and they told me that the reversal was from Total Energies.

“Thank you, FIJ.”

On March 15, FIJ reported how Ajibose’s N11,500 got stuck with Total Energies Nigeria after he tried to pay for engine oil.

After consummating the transaction, Ajibose’s account got debited but the energy company refused to own up to receiving the payment.

He subsequently went to his bank to lodge a complaint but was told that Total had successfully received the transferred fund.

Total would, however, still not refund the N11,500 on time, despite the customer’s assertion that the money was with the company until the story was made public.

Ajibose eventually received a reversal 10 weeks after the incident happened.
