The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has managed to upload only 19 percent of the presidential election results from the northwest geopolitical zone to its result viewing portal on Sunday.

FIJ checked the INEC results viewing (iReV) portal on Sunday evening and found that about 81 percent of the presidential results from Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states were missing over 24 hours after the election.

There are 4522 polling units in Jigawa State’s 27 local government areas (LGAs) but only 1764 polling units had their results uploaded on iReV at the time FIJ checked. This is 39 percent of the total results from Jigawa.

INEC has uploaded no result from Kazaure LGA’s 144 polling units in Jigawa to iReV.

Kaduna has 23 LGAs and 8012 polling units. There are results for 1844 polling units in Kaduna on iReV which is only 23 percent of the expected total.

Kano State has a meagre 10.34 percent of its presidential election results available on iReV. There are 1160 results from 11222 polling units in Kano’s 44 LGAs.

INEC has uploaded no presidential election result from Kibiya and Doguwa LGAs with 149 polling units each.

Katsina State has the lowest result turnout in the northwest with only 9.98 percent submitted election results. In 34 LGAs, there are 6652 polling units with 664 election results on iReV.

Baure LGA in Katsina has 212 polling units but none of those units have results on the iReV portal.

INEC has uploaded 466 presidential election results out of 3743 polling units in Kebbi’s 21 LGAs. This is only 12.45 percent of the results uploaded on iReV.

Sokoto State has 23 LGAs with 3991 polling units. It has results from 959 polling units uploaded on iReV, which is 24 percent.

INEC has uploaded no presidential election result from Isa LGA with 146 polling units to the iReV portal.

15.36 percent of the presidential election results have been uploaded to iReV from Zamfara State’s 3539 polling units. Only 542 polling units have their election result for the public to view. The state has 14 LGAs.

A cumulation of the submissions from the seven northwestern states produced a median 19.16 percent presidential election results on iReV.

So far, the iReV portal shows INEC has uploaded 45753 election results out of 176846 polling units.

INEC has released a statement to apologise for a problem with the iReV portal but FIJ still had access to the portal at press time. This points at delayed upload to iReV from INEC staff.
