The Imo State Police Command has compiled the full names of its officers killed by “unknown gunmen” in the state.

The list contains the details of officers who died in line of duty between December 24, 2020 and June 3, 2021.

The document, signed by Abutu Yaro, the Imo State Police Commissioner, revealed the contacts of relatives of the late officers and the divisions they were serving before their deaths.

FIJ understands from sources that names of the late officers were published to draw the attention of their kinsmen to the need to come for “necessary documentation and collection of entitlements”.

“A list was released yesterday by the command demanding that the next of kin should come today to see the Commissioner of Police,” a senior police officer told FIJ.

Imo policemen have been targets of assailants mostly referred to as unknown gunmen, who are also believed to be members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
