Linda Ojinmah, a Lagos-based entrepreneur, has narrated how N400,000 vanished from her Zenith Bank account.

The entrepreneur said she suspected it was an inside job because there was no explanation for the unauthorised transaction.

She also stated that she found it odd that such fraudulent activity could take place on her account, especially because she neither used the Zenith Bank app nor owned an ATM card.

Ojinmah told FIJ she realised something was wrong with her account on December 5, when she logged in to make a transfer but found some startling transfer messages.

“I saw transfers I had no clue about. What kind of transfers are these? I realised I was short of N400,000 and the transactions had been active since December 3,” Ojinmah told FIJ.

Transaction Receipts from Zenith Bank

Ojinmah wondered why she did not receive any notification in the three days the funds were transferred.

“Zenith Bank never sent me a text message or email alert messages for me to confirm the debits as they normally would when I transferred to another bank. Strangely, I got no message when the incident happened. I believe that this was an inside job,” she said.

“Immediately after I made a transaction on December 5, I got a debit message on my phone and email. How could anyone have had access to my account without my token and password?

“No one used my token because it is safe. I wondered how the person got away with the money. Despite sending a message to them, they have not even acknowledged my message.”

When FIJ called Zenith Bank on the issue, a representative said she would rather not say anything but advise the source to call them directly for help. FIJ also emailed the bank, but at press time, they had not responded.
