The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the release of abducted Ahmed Sani Toro, former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), and Garba Iliya, former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles.
Toro and Iliya were kidnapped on Saturday as they returned from a wedding in Abuja. The abductors released them alongside one Isa Jah.

Ahmed Wakil, public relations officer of Bauchi police, confirmed their release to FIJ on Tuesday. Responding to a text, Wakil said investigations were in progress.
“The former Secretary of the NFF Sani Ahmed Toro and Former Assistant Coach of Super Eagles Garba Yila, kidnapped on their way home from Abuja after attending the wedding ceremony of the son of former NFF President Aminu Maigari which took place in Abuja, were released. Investigation is in progress,” Wakil’s text read.
On Monday, Toro’s son told BBC Sport Africa that his father was on his way home. BBC Sport also reported that the abductors reduced their ransom demand for the trio’s release on Monday night.

Toro is a former Secretary-General of the NFA, which is now known as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), between 1993 and 1999. The kidnappers stopped Toro and Iliya along the Abuja-Jos road on Saturday night.
Wakil did not respond to other questions regarding where they were released and how.
