Kelvin Owowenu, a Lagos-based HR manager, has recounted how Aero Contractors, a Nigerian aviation company, cancelled his trip but failed to return his N43,000.
Speaking with FIJ, Owowenu said he had booked a Warri-Lagos flight scheduled for March with the airline, which was abruptly cancelled.
“I was in Warri for a visit and needed to return to Lagos. I booked a flight with Aero Contractor for March 16 but it was postponed,” he told FIJ.

“I got an email communicating the postponement in the early hours of the scheduled date. They postponed the flight until the following day, which was a bit fine with my plans.

“On March 17, the new date, when I got to the Osubi Airport in Warri, I realised that there were no flights on ground. Further enquiries also revealed that Aero Contractors had stopped operating in Osubi Airport for over a month.

“This means there was no flight, and they didn’t deem it fit to notify me.”
Owowenu further stated that when he contacted the airline for a refund, he didn’t get a response from them.
“On March 20, I went to their website to fill out their refund policy form and sent it to them, but they are yet to respond to date,” he said.
“I have also sent a series of reminders to them and chatted them up, but they haven’t even acknowledged them.”
When FIJ reached out to Aero Contractors, one of their customer care representatives said, “We have a lot of backlog and that is why he is yet to receive his refund.”
“I have now sent his request for a refund to the department processing it. However, I don’t know how long that will take.”
