Ibrahim Bello, a customer of Azman Air, has narrated how the airline failed to refund his N130,000 after cancelling his flight in January.
Bello told FIJ that he paid the money for a seat from Abuja to Maiduguri on January 24 and the flight was scheduled for January 27. The airline, however, cancelled the flight and sent an email to Bello on January 5.
The passenger was then forced to request a refund. He filled out a refund form made available to him by the company, providing the means of payment and booking reference.

The submission of the refund form was acknowledged by the airline, which assured the customer his request would be processed on time.
“I booked a flight going from Abuja to Maiduguri with Azman Air in January. I never anticipated that the flight would be cancelled, but it happened. So, I told them I wanted my money back, and a ticket refund form was made available to me,” he said.
“I provided all the details required to process my request. Sadly, they have not returned my money since January. This is the eighth month since I submitted my request, but my money is still in their possession.
“I have tried to make them return my money, yet they are not forthcoming. They have just been consistent in giving me one excuse or another.”
FIJ learned that the passenger chatted with Azman Air on its WhatsApp channel in March and an agent told him that a refund request had been logged against his account, and that it was undergoing further verification and processing.
Seven months after the agent’s response, Bello still doesn’t know when Azman Air will refund his money. The company had not responded to FIJ’s email sent on Wednesday as of press time.
