Debo Adebayo, a comedian and social media influencer also known as Mr Macaroni, has been arrested by the police at the Lekki toll gate.

In an Instagram live video, Mr Macaroni, a known an advocate of the end-to-police-brutality movement, could be heard saying the Lagos Judicial Panel had been hijacked.

“Rinu is on that panel, Temi is on that panel; those are the two youth friends we have there. But they have hijacked that panel,” Mr Macaroni said. “And we have been seeing what has been happening with our eyes.”

He said that he did not know where the police were taking him to.

In the video, a man wearing mobile police uniform was seen sitting beside Mr Macaroni in a vehicle.

“Honestly, it is not a crime that people are not at the toll gate. In fact, I am happy that people are not at the toll gate. You can just stay back because your safety is very important,” he said.

The OccupyLekkiTollGate hashtag began trending online when the Lagos Judicial panel ruled that the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), operators of the toll gate, could resume operations — a position that was rejected by some youth on the group, with Rinu Oduala resigning from the panel.
