21.09.2023 Featured United Nigeria Airlines Refunds Ebonyi Businessman’s N58,750 After FIJ’s Story

United Nigeria Airlines has refunded N58,750 to Chris Nwadigo, an Ebonyi State-based businessman who was unable to travel with the airline six months ago.

Nwadigo, in a message sent to FIJ on Thursday morning, said the airline made the refund on September 15.

This came one month after FIJ reported how the airline withheld the businessman’s money due to a flight cancellation on April 12.

Elated by this resolution, Nwadigo expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you, FIJ. Thanks for your intervention.”

Nwadigo had booked an Enugu to Lagos flight ticket with the airline, hoping to travel on April 12.

On the day the businessman was supposed to travel, however, the airline announced that a flight delay that was expected to last for four hours.

Realising the delay would prevent him from making his Lagos appointment on time, Nwadigo decided to cancel his flight ticket before travelling with another airline to his destination.

He then later requested a refund from United Nigeria Airlines.

“Despite my efforts to seek resolution, I am yet to receive my refund. I have reached out to the airline through multiple emails, only to receive assurances of a refund that never materialized,” Nwadigo told FIJ.

This issue persisted from the period Nwadigo requested a refund in April till FIJ intervened in August.
