Rudolf Kampf, the German once said to have been defrauded of $220,000 by one Cynthia Chioma Atuonah, his 21-year-old Nigerian lover, has come out to debunk the claim.

In a video obtained by FIJ on Monday, Kampf says Atuonah is not a fraudster.

“I make this video to debunk the information which was circulated about my girlfriend, Cynthia Chioma Atuonah, the 21-year-old model,” says Kampf in the video.

“This case was dropped at the court, so she is not a fraudster at the court, and I want to inform the public that the old information should be taken away, and that everybody should listen to this video, that she should be a successful model, and I hope she will give me a chance to be her friend again.”

In April, the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Ikoyi, Lagos State, arrested Atuonah for alleged $220,000 fraud.

During the period, the police said Atuonah had lured 50-year-old Kampf on Instagram by feigning romantic intentions towards him, thereby gaining his trust and goodwill.

It was also claimed that Atuonah had promised to marry the German and had also invited him to Nigeria for visits on several occasions.

Atuonah reportedly convinced the victim to sell the property he owned in Germany and forward proceeds of the sale, together with his pension and life savings, to her domiciliary account in Nigeria.

From the police statement, a part of the proceeds was to be used to buy a house in Nigeria, where they would both live as husband and wife, and the other part was to be used in establishing a joint business outfit as indicated in the bank transfer narration.

Atuonah had, in her statement, admitted that the German national did transfer $220,000 to her account, and that part of the proceeds were used to buy a two-bedroom terrace apartment at Zara Estate, Ikota Villa, Lekki Phase II.
