Two policemen attached to The Palace at Ilasan, Lekki, Lagos, have been filmed physically assaulting a woman.
According to @AustynZOGS, a Twitter user, the policemen assaulted the yet-to-be-identified lady after she attempted to record them while they were involved in an altercation with an Uber driver.
He stated that the policemen also seized the lady’s phone and arrested her.

“@Gidi_Traffic Last week, policemen guarding the palace at Illasan, Lekki Phase 1,allegedly assaulted a lady for attempting to record them during a confrontation with a Uber driver. The lady’s phone was seized & she was also arrested. Has she been freed?” The tweep stated.
A source within the police, who asked not to be named, said, “The lady claimed that she was injured, but from an ordinary person’s observation, there was no injury.
“She claimed to be injured and wanted to go to the hospital, even though all she had could be surmised as body pain.
“As part of the DPO’s disciplinary action against them, he asked that the police officers treat the lady and demanded they give her N50,000 for treatment.
“The lady got the money and promised to withdraw the case, even though she didn’t do that.”
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, told FIJ that the case had been transferred to the provost’s department.

“I will reach out to the provost in charge of discipline. All I is know that the provost has taken over the case,” he said.
When FIJ asked if he had the names of the police officers involved, he asked to be given 30 minutes. Our reporter called back but he said he was yet to get information on their identity.
“I am yet to get information on the identity of the policemen or the disciplinary action taken against them. All I know is that the incident happened on January 2.”
