Segun Daniel Eleja, a Kaduna State-based businessman, has accused Kuda and GoMoney, two digital banks in Nigeria, of holding on to N367,000, an amount he transferred to a business partner in June.

Eleja told FIJ that he transferred the money to Ayuba Mohammed, his business partner who operates an account with Kuda, on June 24.

“On June 24, I transferred N367,808 from my GoMoney app to Ayuba, my business partner, and I was able to generate a receipt that showed that the transaction was successful,” Eleja said.

“However, when I told Ayuba to confirm receipt of the fund, he told me he did not receive it. Kuda, his bank, would also later claim that they were yet to receive the fund.”

According to Eleja, Kuda also claimed the transaction ID generated was not for them.

“GoMoney keeps telling me that the transaction was successful from their end. They also said that if Kuda did not receive the fund, they should be contacted,” he said.

“Kuda is however insisting that I liaise with my bank for a reversal. Now, it as if the two banks have chosen to put me in the middle, just as Ayuba is still expecting the money to be credited into his account. I don’t even know who is lying and who is saying the truth between both banks. This has been on since June 24.”

FIJ contacted both banks for comments via mail, but only Kuda had responded at press time, requesting that the sender forward the transaction ID to them for review.

Eleja, however, claimed that the session ID had been sent to Kuda several times.
