19.09.2022 Extra World Leaders Arrive at Queen’s Funeral on the Bus, But Biden Takes ‘The Beast’

Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America, was the only world leader who arrived at Westminster Abbey for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in his personal vehicle.

The United Kingdom had invited about 100 heads of government to the state funeral of its longest-serving monarch on Monday. The royal family instructed all government leaders to take a bus prepared for them to Westminster Abbey, the state funeral venue.

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan; Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President; Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister; and Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander were among the attendees. They all took a bus.

Biden was the only world leader who received permission to use ‘The Beast’, his own vehicle, for transport to Westminster Abbey, venue of the funeral service.

‘The Beast’ is the official vehicle used to transport the US President from one location to another. For security reasons, the US President uses ‘The Beast’ at all times.

The current model of ‘The Beast’ is a prototype bomb-proof Cadillac limousine built to provide multi-layered and state-of-the-art security for the president. This car travels with the president whenever he is out of the United States and is always prepared to move the president as soon as possible.

The state funeral arrangement instructed that visiting leaders be ferried to Westminster Abbey from a meeting point in Chelsea while they waited for the Queen’s coffin to arrive on a gun carriage from Westminster Hall.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral programme also instructed all attendees to remain seated about half an hour before and after the funeral.
