Jibola Joseph, a Lagos resident, has accused Jumia Nigeria of ignoring his request for a refund for four months.
The Lagos resident told FIJ he employed all viable means to remind the e-commerce company to pay him on time but to no avail.
He said his problem with Jumia started on January 8, a day after he purchased a light lamp from the company for N20,631.
Joseph stated that he noticed some issues with the lamp after a dispatch delivered it to him, and thus returned it the following day.

“After their dispatcher picked up the lamp, Jumia informed me it would take them three weeks before they refunded me,” Joseph said.
He said he waited for the company to refund him after it initiated a refund on January 13 but the company kept neglecting his request.
“I sent several emails to Jumia, but they didn’t respond until the end of February, when they sent me a receipt of the refund they claimed to have initiated,” he said.
“I sent the receipt of the refund Jumia sent to my bank to confirm if they received the money, but the bank said no.”

Joseph said his bank had contacted him several times to inform him Jumia was yet to credit his account.
“When I sent Jumia messages on Facebook Messenger, they blocked me. They are not saying anything. It’s like they scammed me. That they are not responding to my messages feels like they scammed me,” Joseph said.
FIJ called Jumia but the company did not respond. Also, FIJ sent an email and a text message to the company but got no response at press time.
