Olakunle Adebiyi (not real name), a Lagos-based civil engineer, has narrated how Aero Contractors, a Nigerian airline, cancelled his flight ticket on March 24 and withheld his N58,510.
Adebiyi told FIJ that the airline cancelled his ticket the same day he booked his Abuja-Lagos flight because they couldn’t confirm his reservation.

“In the early hours of March 24, I booked a ticket from Abuja to Lagos online with Aero Contractors for a 2:55 pm flight,” he told FIJ.
“But I didn’t realise the ticket had been cancelled until I got to the airport to board on the same day.”
The civil engineer said he immediately reached out to the airline for a refund but his request was not acknowledged.
“After my ticket was cancelled, I reached out to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), because it was the bank I used to pay for the ticket, and asked them for a refund.
“The bank told me that my refund would come from the airline and not them.

“I then reached out to Aero Contractors, and at some point, they said they would process my refund in two weeks.
“After the time frame elapsed, I contacted them subsequently, but I am yet to receive my refund.
“It is eight months since they cancelled my ticket, and I have received nothing from them.”
FIJ sent an email to Aero Contractors on Friday but had not received a response at press time.
