An unidentified man has been arrested following the death of his seven-month-pregnant wife in Ketu, Lagos State.

According to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on Wednesday, the unnamed seven-month-pregnant woman appeared to have died “as a result of violence meted out to her by her husband”.

The DSVA stated that the woman died after complaining of body pains all over her body in the early hours of Wednesday.

“The unfortunate incident happened in the Ketu area of Lagos, where it was alleged that her husband had serially abused her physically and otherwise. The last incident allegedly happened at midnight on 16th January 2023, which resulted in her death.

“It was also revealed that one of the family members confirmed that the deceased had repeatedly reported physical abuse to the husband’s family members; unfortunately, nothing was done to address the issue.”

The agency reported the incident at the nearest police station, leading to the immediate commencement of an investigation and arrest of the husband.
