Jordan Kirpu, an Abuja-based resident, has narrated to FIJ how the United Nigeria Airline failed to refund his N63,500 after cancelling his ticket twice in a row.
Speaking with FIJ, Kirpu said that the first Abuja-Port Harcourt ticket was booked for August 31 but was cancelled “for operational reasons” hours before takeoff.
He said the airline pushed his ticket by one week only to cancel it again.

“I bought an Abuja-Port Harcourt ticket with United Nigeria Airlines, and I was to fly on August 31, but on the scheduled day, my ticket was cancelled,” he told FIJ.
“In the text message they sent, they said my flight was cancelled due to operational reasons.”
The Abuja resident said they then gave him the option of rescheduling the ticket and he fixed a new trip for September 5.
“Again, just like the first flight, they cancelled the second again citing the same issues.
“At this point, I was tired and told them I needed a refund.”
Kirpu said the airline sent him a refund form and told him it would take four weeks to issue him a chargeback and he consented to it.
“I was patient with the refund process because I understood how those things work,” he told FIJ.
“When the time frame elapsed and I did not hear from them, I sent a reminder and they asked me to be patient.
“Afterwards, when I did not hear from them, I began to send them emails and messages across their social media pages, but they are yet to refund me.”
FIJ sent an email to United Nigeria Airlines on Tuesday afternoon but was yet to receive a response at press time.
We also called the airline’s customer care unit, but their line wasn’t available. They have not responded a text message sent.
