Members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), a proscribed group, have brutalised a tricyclist in an unconfirmed location in the southeastern part of Nigeria for not observing a sit-at-home declared by the group.

According to Eons Intelligence, a security outfit, some members of the group flagged down the man from his yellow tricycle on Tuesday and made him lie face-down on the ground while they tortured him.

In a trending social media video clip obtained by FIJ, three IPOB terrorists fully armed with guns hit the man with the butts of their guns several times.

“I’m very sorry. I will not try it next time,” the victim says repeatedly while rolling on the ground.

The sit-at-home is a disruptive practice initiated by various factions of IPOB to force the government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the group.

However, the current sit-at-home phase scheduled to last a week in Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi was declared by Autopilot, an IPOB faction led by Finland-based Simon Ekpa.

Ekpa’s faction is believed to be responsible for many of the heinous activities affecting the lives and property of the people of the region.

The federal government proscribed the group and declared it a terrorist movement on September 20, 2017.
