Rufai Akanbi, a Lagos State-based lawyer, has narrated how Dana Air withheld his N100,000 after cancelling his flight two months earlier.
Akanbi told FIJ that the incident happened on May 29.
“I booked a Lagos-Abuja flight for myself and my son on May 26, hoping to travel with Dana Air on June 1,” Akanbi told FIJ.
“The two flight tickets cost N100,000.

“On May 29, I got a message from Dana Air that our departure time for the flight had been shifted. The message also read that the flight would still take off on June 1.
“Hours later, I surprisingly got another message that the flight had now been cancelled due to operational reasons. However, the airline failed to state when it would make a refund. The message did not also state whether the flight would be rescheduled or not.”

After the cancellation, Akanbi was forced to look for an alternative flight for the important journey.
“On the flight date, I went to Dana Air office at MM2 to enquire for the reason for the cancellation and for refund. No particular reason was given, and I was also told to wait for close to two weeks for a response.

“It has now been two months since the flight was cancelled and I am yet to get a resolution on my complaint. Dana Air has also not refunded the N100,000 I paid for the two tickets.”
FIJ sent a mail to Dana Air’s customer care desk for comments on Tuesday, but it had not been responded to at press time.
